La semaine prochaine - le 15 au 19 novembre, 2021

We appreciate you taking the time to read our weekly posting and stay up-to-date with the school news. This past week, we held our second virtual assembly of the year. This time it was for Remembrance Day. As we continue to work and learn under the public health guidelines, we are finding new ways of bringing back our routines from before the pandemic. As the year goes on, we will be holding more virtual assemblies and look forward to (virtual) whole-school gatherings more frequently. Here is what we have for this week's news.

Loose Parts Playground

We are pleased to announce that we will open  our Loose Parts Playground to our students starting at recess on Monday, November 15th. This has been a while in the making, and we intend to grow the playground over the remainder of the year. On Monday, teachers will be going over the expectations for the safe use of the playground with their students. We had originally intended to have the playground operating before the COVID closure this fall. Now that we are back, we are happy to see it up and running for our students.

Morning Drop Off and Supervision

We would like to remind everyone of our morning drop-off times. Since we came back from remote learning, we have noticed some students being dropped off early. Junior Kindergarten students can be dropped off directly in the portables as of 8:00 in the morning. For parents dropping off JK students, please remember that the upper parking lot is for staff only. We ask that you use the designated parent parking spaces adjacent to the bus lane for quick drop offs in the morning. You can also use the parking lanes adjacent to Taylor Road.

For students in all other grades, outdoor supervision starts at 8:05am. Please do not drop off your child earlier than 8:05 AM. Students in Grades 1 through 5 should go directly to the soccer field, and Kindergarten students should wait at the play structure nearest the portables. Students are to remain outside for the time being, as long as the weather permits, so please dress your child warmly.

Subway Day

The next Subway day is scheduled for Thursday, November 18th. If you would like to place an order for your child, please do so before 6:00 PM on Monday, November 15th. When placing an order, please visit to make your request.

Report Cards - November 22nd

Report cards will be going home on November 22nd at the end of the school day. Given the extended school closure in the fall, these reports will look differently than what might normally be seen for the first term. Specifically, teachers will share their observations of your child's experiences in the context of the fall COVID closure. As such, comments may be more generalized than you have seen in the past. All things being equal, and if there aren't any further closures, you can expect to see a more 'standard' report card for those coming out in March.

Reminder - Parent-Teacher Conference Appointments

Parent-teacher conferences are scheduled for Tuesday November 23rd and Wednesday the 24th. As with last year, conferences will occur online only and your child’s teacher will provide you with further details on how they will be managing the conference itself (for example, via Google Meets or Zoom). Conferences will run from 4:00 until 7:30 PM both days. You have until 6:00 PM on Monday, November 22nd, in order to book your appointment. If you need help in signing into the system and requesting an appointment, please refer to these instructions.
