We would like to remind everyone that there will be no school on Wednesday, November 11th in recognition of Remembrance Day. Our school will recognize Remembrance Day on Tuesday, November 10th while having the students remain in their classrooms and bubbles. The event will remind students about the importance of the day, followed by two minutes of silence.
Our school's next PAC meeting will take place on Thursday, November 12th at 7:00 PM in the school cafeteria. Thank you to Mme. Julie for her work in preparing the weekly update on CEPA for our parents and community
This week in CEPA the grade one students in Mme Jessica’s and Mme Emma's class got their first full afternoon in the wall tent. We talked about the expectations while in our new outdoor classroom, and then had time to have a moment alone in nature, and time to work constructing forts in teams. With only rope, tarps, snow and rocks the grade ones created some very impressive and effective shelters.
Teamwork was also at the forefront with Mme Heidi’s grade five students this week. They got straight to work loading in wood to our wall tent and stacking it, and then got to practice their presentation skills by putting on skits for their classmates outside. Each group chose a Dene Law, and demonstrated how these laws could be applied in their everyday life. We are very impressed at effective and respectful presentations where. Looking forward to more outdoor learning next week!
On Monday, November 16th, there will be no classes for students. The school district will be holding a district-wide professional day. Classes will resume on the morning of Tuesday, November 17th.
Please take a few moments to complete this survey from the JHS Parent Advisory Council. It will help the PAC plan activities and events for the upcoming year, and it is an opportunity to communicate any questions or concerns you may have. The& survey will remain open until November 30th.
