Ecole J.H. Sissons
le 9 au 13 septembre, 2019
On behalf of the staff, I would like to wish you and your families welcome back to Sissons for the 2019-2020 school year. For those of you who are new to the school, we are pleased to have you join us. I am very pleased to be a part of this learning community, and have very much enjoyed meeting the students and their families over the past week. Mr. McConomy and I are looking forward to working with you over the course of the year as we embark on our learning journey together. We thank you for making us feel very welcome.
Our goal is to publish a weekly ‘Semaine en Revue’ for you every Sunday evening while school is in session. This is an opportunity for us to highlight upcoming events, or to report on some of the great learning that is happening in our school. We will also provide you with reminders of upcoming dates of interest. Our goal is to keep you in the know about what is happening at our school.
You can help us with our goal of keeping you informed. When we publish our ‘Semaine en Revue’ a copy will be posted to our website. An additional copy will be emailed to you through our school’s automatic mailing system, going right to your mailbox. We encourage you to subscribe to our school’s mailing system so that we have your permission to send these messages to you. In order to subscribe, please visit the ‘Newsletter’ section on the front of our school’s website. Select the ‘Newsletter’ option for the list, enter your email address and then hit the ‘Subscribe’ button. We thank you for sharing your address with us. We will not use it for any other purpose except to send you news about the school.
Starting at 8:00 in the morning, pre-kindergarten students are welcome to come into their classrooms provided that they are under the direct supervision of an accompanying adult. For all other students, supervision outside doesn’t begin until 8:10 AM, and this includes supervision for Kindergarten students. Therefore, if students are arriving on the grounds before 8:10, please make sure that they are under the direct supervision of an accompanying adult until formal supervision by staff starts. We thank you for helping to keep our children safe.
Please remember that our school has three meal/snack breaks for students. The first is in the morning, the second is at lunch, and the third is in the afternoon. We encourage you to make sure that your children have snacks to cover all three periods of the day. One other thing to note is that the school is unable to provide students with utensils, plastic or otherwise, for their food. Therefore, if you are sending your child to school with food that requires a utensil, please make sure that you pack those in with the meals. While the school was able to provide plastic utensils in the past, it is no longer able to do so.
